YES Education
The Museum of Science’s hands-on curriculum for preschool through eighth grade — Youth Engineering Solutions (YES) — engages over 30,000 educators and 800,000 students in engineering and computer science each year. Like professional engineers, YES student engineers learn to imagine, plan, and create solutions to address real-world problems. And when something doesn’t work? That’s not failure, it’s a chance to improve their design and try again!
One educator shared: “As a science specialist who sees students twice a week, these units provide the connection and balance of science concepts, engineering, and empathy that I’ve been trying to find — and that work for timing needs. Thank you again for creating such thoughtful, creative, and fun units.”

Over the past year, YES has expanded its collection of school-based engineering resources with three new offerings:
• YES STEM Event Activities – Bring engineering to your family STEM night!
• Career Explorations – Discover what kind of work excites you (maybe you didn’t even know that was a job!).
• Computer Science – Now available for upper elementary and middle school students.
Throughout the year, our professional learning team supports educators with virtual and in-person workshops, plus free monthly webinars.
“I am SO grateful to use and partner with YES!” says one participating educator. “I feel so much more confident in hitting the standards while embracing what STEM should look like in an elementary classroom.”
Whether they’re tackling challenges like designing a way to keep plastics out of the water or creating a nightlight with just the right glow, students engaging with YES curricula are learning to love science. Take it from this middle school educator: “We run a semester-long outreach program with 7th graders, and over and over they continue to say that the hands-on science activities and projects are some of their favorites. And it keeps their phones out of their hands—so win-win!”
Looking to enjoy some STEM learning with your family? Try one of our new STEM Event Activities at your school's STEM Night!
